How many lines you get, and what is strapped to the ride.
Almost nobody sells a zipline on its own. It comes with a quad, a cenote, a raft or a horse, and that is what decides the price. Reviews of the zipline and canopy tours you can book today.
Punta Cana, Kauai, Cancun, Rotorua: the four zipline days people fly for.
More travellers ride these than anything else on the site. What each one costs, and what you are clipped into.

A zipline is rarely sold alone. This is what it is bundled with.
Every combo we have ridden →Quad tracks, a cold swim in a cenote, a raft down the canyon, an hour on a horse. Operators sell the cable as one leg of a half day, and the other legs set the price. Work out which bundle you want before you compare tickets.
Mexico, the USA, Thailand, Turkey: where zipline courses stand thickest.
Limestone jungle across the Yucatan, volcanic gulches in Hawaii, canyon walls above Antalya, a platform in every big tree along the Thai valleys. Six countries, and the best ride in each.
Mexico sells the zipline three ways: over jungle, behind a quad, or into a cenote.
Everything in Mexico →
Three quarters of the Riviera Maya day trips end the same way, in cold water under a limestone roof. Pick the shape of the day first and the price follows, because a quad track adds more to the ticket than an extra line does.

Quad first, cable after
Dirt tracks through the scrub while everyone is still clean, then the canopy circuit, then the water. Book the morning departure: the tracks turn to soup after an afternoon shower.
Canopy courses, treetop parks and the rope bridges between them.
Some operators do not sell a ride, they sell a morning in the canopy: a string of lines, swaying bridges and platforms with the forest floor a long way under your boots. These are the ones worth clearing half a day for.
The zipline tours more travellers ride than any others.
Every zipline tour we have reviewed →The most popular rides on the site, with what each costs and where it runs. Number one is not the longest line anywhere. It is the one with the easiest transfer.

A few ziplines are long enough to be the reason for the trip.
A kilometre of cable wall to wall across the Cetina canyon, a run alongside the Niagara gorge, a line strung between towers over Dubai Marina. Longer is not automatically better, but it is always the photograph people come home with.
Every long ride →The USA runs its ziplines off volcanoes and out of the Smokies.
Hawaii strings cable down old plantation land and across waterfall gulches; Tennessee and the Carolinas built their parks into hardwood ridges. Both run most of the year, and both fill their summer slots first.

What a zipline day costs, from a single ride to a full canopy course.
Every tour on the site grouped by price. A single line above Antalya is pocket money. A Caribbean bundle with transfers, lunch and four activities is not.
Single rides, park entries and short jungle circuits. Turkey, Thailand and inland Mexico live here.
The standard half day: a course of lines with a cenote, a raft or a quad attached, transfers usually included.
Full-day bundles, the long Hawaiian courses, and private groups that skip the queue at the platform.

Three things a zipline day gives you that nothing else can.
Plenty of trips take you into a jungle. Only this one drops you off the end of a cable into a flooded cave, walks you across a gorge nobody has ever stood in, and puts you level with the top of the canopy.

The cenote finish
The Yucatan is a limestone shelf with a river system running under it, and where the roof has fallen through you get a cenote: cold, clear and open to the sky. Operators hang the last cable of the circuit straight over one, and a good half of the tours end with a drop, a rope swing or a ladder into the water. Nobody warns you to pack a towel.

The canopy bridge
Between platforms most courses hang rope bridges, and they are the part people describe afterwards. You cross at the height the canopy actually lives at, close enough to the crowns to see what is moving in them. In Thailand and Malaysia the walkways are the attraction and the ziplines are simply how you get down.

The canyon span
A canyon zipline is a different sport from a forest one. The cable runs from one wall to the other with nothing beneath it, the ride is long because the gap is long, and the wind funnelling up the gorge decides whether the day happens at all. Croatia’s Cetina and the canyons behind Antalya both built a full day around it.

Four zipline rides that will not wait for you.
Most cable can be booked the night before from a hotel desk. These four run on timed slots, seasonal openings and hard group caps, and they are the first to close out.
- 01Koloa Zipline in KauaiFixed departure times, small groups and a guide on every run. Summer weeks are gone long before you land.
- 02Rotorua Canopy Tours: 2.5Hour Native Forest Zipline AdventureGuided groups through native forest, capped small so the platforms are not crowded. The New Zealand summer books out first.
- 03Niagara Falls, Canada: Zipline to The FallsThis one is seasonal. It closes over winter and reopens when the gorge weather allows, so check the calendar before the flights.
- 04Marina Ziplining with Photos, Video and MealTimed slots over the water, and a weight range with a floor as well as a ceiling. The evening runs go first.
Weight limits, minimum ages and what rain actually does to a zipline day.
Nearly every course has a floor and a ceiling on the scales, and the floor catches out families more often than the ceiling catches out adults. Minimum ages are usually lower than people expect. Lightning stops a ride; steady rain often does not. Operators who cancel for weather rebook or refund, so put the cable on the first morning of the trip and keep the last one spare.
